Biography:

    Dr. Nisha Singh is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Lucknow. She received her Bachelor’s in Biology and Master’s in Biochemistry from the University of Lucknow in 2007 and 2009, respectively. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University in 2014. Dr. Singh has completed a leadership course at IIM Ahmedabad.

    Her research focuses on the molecular analysis of parasitic pathogens and host-pathogen interactions, specifically Leishmania. Singh's group works on the development of novel therapeutic strategies and vaccines against parasitic infections such as leishmaniasis. Besides her primary focus, Dr. Singh pursues research in soil hydraulics and water conservation in an effort to address problems in the Northwestern Himalayan region and advance sustainable agriculture.

    Dr. Singh’s commitment to research and her achievements have been recognized through the various honors that have been conferred on her. These include the ICMR Award for Biomedical Research from the ICMR Government of India, the A. Krishnamurthy Award from SBC(I), IISc. Bengaluru, the Start-Up Research Grant from UGC, multiple ICGEB Grants, the Best Poster Presentation Award, and several other travel grants such as the INSA-CSIR-DAE/BRNS-CICS Travel Fellowship. In 2019, Dr. Nisha Singh participated in the "Expert Visitors Programme" in Stockholm, upon the invitation of the Swedish Institute, Government of Sweden, to strengthen ties between India and Sweden in the Life Science sector.

    Nisha Singh has held many administrative positions at HNB Garhwal University, including serving as the Head of the Biochemistry Department from 2019 to 2021 and as a member of the Academic Council, School Board, Board of Studies (BOS-Biochemistry), DAIP Committee (Biochemistry), and IQAC Task Group. She has served as a reviewer for various journals, such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, BMC Biotechnology, etc., and is an Editorial Board Member of the PLOS ONE journal.
